A Month Already?

I can't believe I've been in London for nearly a month now. Time is going way too quickly, which often means that I don't realize that I haven't updated my blog until a week after my most recent post. Oops. Oh well.

On Monday I had a 'field trip' to Westminster Abbey for my British Art and Architecture class. Wait, did I say Westminster? Because I mean St. Paul's. Yup, somehow my brain confused the two on Monday, and I ended up at the wrong church. It was nice, but it costs £13 with a uni ID to get in, so I might not end up going back. After that fiasco (and a snack) I met Christina so we could go to the second show of the semester for our Drama in the London Theatre (DLT) class. It was called Tiger Country, and it was a medical drama which was supposedly meant to be about the NHS. It was not actually about the NHS though; it was more like any other medical drama (Grey's Anatomy, etc.) and focused on relationships and coping with the job. Because the genre is so overdone, I couldn't really enjoy it. Hopefully this week's show, Becky Shaw, will be better.

Wednesday was momentous. We (finally) figured out the majority of our spring break plans. It's going to be awesome, partly because of the small cost. Flights and trains (not Eurorail, but national companies) are incredibly inexpensive here, and hostel booking sites give us the option to browse through every hostel in any European city and choose one based on price, cleanliness, security, and other factors. I'm fairly certain that spring break is going to cost less than the flight over and the five nights in the Millenium Gloucestor did.
Here's the itinerary:

Thursday night-saturday: Pisa
Saturday night-Tuesday: Perugia (with a day trip to Florence somewhere in there)
Tuesday night-wednesday: Rome
Wednesday night-friday: Valencia
Friday night-saturday: Barcelona
Saturday night- sunday: Paris.

Today, we went to Trafalgar square for the Chinese New Year celebrations. If you are ever in London in February, I honestly don't suggest going. It was too crowded, too loud, and you can't see a thing over the hundreds of children on their parents' shoulders. After shoving our way through the crowd to open space we ate lunch in China Town, which was equally as crowded. We bought some sort of steamed roll with meat inside (mine was pork) It was delicious, and super filling. I will definitely be going back on a less crowded day to buy more.

The coming week is going to be full of theatre. .  Christina and I have a show for DLT tomorrow night, and all five of us are going to an improvised musical called Show Stoppers. I have a feeling it's going to be awesome.
